GMDSS-Approved

Inmarsat marine services are GMDSS-approved, which is the international Global Maritime Distress and Safety System that utilizes satellite technology and maritime radio systems in emergencies. Passenger and cargo ships are required to use systems that adhere to international standards.

Inmarsat Marine Satellite Systems

Inmarsat has maritime satellite solutions and terminals offered through different services. Fleet One operates on L-band data with up to 100 Kbps and voice services facilitated through small antennas. Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband provides data with speeds up to 432 Kbps and simultaneous voice services over a seamless broadband connection. FleetBroadband is a backup for the Global Xpress service enabling automatic switching to utilize the available service based on your location.

Fleet One

The Fleet One range of products are affordable marine communications systems for leisure or commercial vessels of any size. The KVH TracPhone Fleet One and Cobham Sailor Fleet One are entry level antennas that provide reliable and high-quality communications and entertainment content while out at sea. The terminals are compact and lightweight, and easy to operate and install.

Fleet One Global and Fleet One Coastal are two services offered through Inmarsat maritime connectivity is Fleet One Global for seasonal or regular use and Fleet One Coastal for recreational or small, regional operators.

FleetBroadband

Inmarsat’s Fleet Broadband offers cost-effective data and voice communications through dependable and robust systems. Not only do they provide crew and passengers with high performing Internet applications, but they also help fleets and vessels plot fuel-efficient routes and assist in diagnosing any mechanical faults remotely. Some terminals come complete with a VoIP handset designed for superior audio clarity.

There are several satellite systems available to suit any seafarer’s needs, such as the Cobham Sailor 250 FleetBroadband designed for reliable IP communications. Suitable for small or medium vessels, it provides constant access to voice and data services and allows operating systems for remote monitoring, and access to Internet communications and 6 simultaneous voice lines.

The WidEye Skipper 150 FleetBroadband is another economical option for commercial ships, fishing boats, or yachts. It uses secure, IP-based technologies to provide Wi-Fi connectivity to any authorized smart device.

Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat Fleet Xpress is a managed service with global GX (Ka-Band) and Fleet Broadband (L-Band) services that offer prepaid and postpaid communication services for the marine industry. Cobham Sailor and Intellian systems are high-end satellite solutions for medium and large vessels providing comprehensive and sophisticated telecommunications across the planet’s oceans, through any weather condition or climate.

The Fleet Xpress range offers highly advanced military-grade antennas to mid-range satellite systems that are ready-to-use on Inmarsat’s high-speed Global Xpress (GX) broadband service. They come with an integrated modem for the best Internet connectivity regardless of location. The compact sizes allow easy installation and remote management via a direct Wi-Fi connection.
