Inmarsat Satellite Phones
Founded 40 years ago to provide a communications network for mariners out at sea, Inmarsat has since become a global satellite operator and industry leader that built the Inmarsat satellite system.
Through constant innovation, Inmarsat’s satellite devices keep getting better and smarter like the new-generation IsatPhone 2 satellite phone that brings extensive voice and data capabilities. There are various data plans available and a wide selection of different accessories that support Inmarsat’s satellite phones.
Providing global coverage (excluding the Poles), Inmarsat connects people, business, governments, and humanitarian efforts across all corners of the globe. Inmarsat’s next generation of satellites are the first to support L-band and Ka-band services to increase connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT), voice calls and data communication.
The leading mobile devices are the Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro and the latest IsatPhone 2 satellite phone. The IsatPhone 2 came after the Pro with similar but enhanced features such as improved shock resistance, battery life, and improved protection against the elements, better communication quality and extended compatibility with Windows.
The Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro is a popular, durable and user-friendly satellite phone. Lighter but slightly bigger than the IsatPhone 2, the Pro offers satellite telephony features with a 2.4kbps voice codec. It comes with all the standard voice calling features such as voicemail, caller ID, call waiting/divert/barring/holding, and conferencing.
The sat phone interfaces with Micro USB, audio, antenna and Bluetooth. You can choose from several post- or prepaid data plans to access Internet and email services. The Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro price usually extends beyond $600 depending on which package and accessories are included.
The IsatPhone 2 satellite phone is a solid, robust phone that’s built to handle all types of severe weather conditions and climate temperatures. Network registration is fast, and it boasts an 8-hour talk time battery life with up to 160 hours on standby. With superior voice quality and call stability, the IsatPhone 2 is one of the most reliable satellite phones on the market today.

The range of Inmarsat’s Fleetphones focuses on providing a cost-effective maritime satellite phone service when vessels are far from the reach of land-based networks. This is a fixed solution for voice communication. Inmarsat’s two Fleetphone ranges are manufactured by Beam Communications:
- The Oceana 400 for voice and text communication.
- The Ocean 800 for voice, text, and basic data communications.
The sat phone interface allows integrating with up to 5 phones on the PABX system. Several features offer big advantages with connectivity and emergency response. Inmarsat’s Oceana 800 includes a 505 Emergency Calling facility to find the closest sea rescue.
The terminal has built-in GPS tracking and voice calling is crystal clear whether to land, mobile or satellite networks. Other useful features include Crew Welfare Chat, Internet and intranet access, and weather forecasts.
